My current research project is to determine the consequences of neonatal stress, in the form of maternal food restriction, on adult neuroendocrinology and behavior. Specifically, I am currently trying to determine how neonatal stress causes alterations in the central nervous system that program the adult male and female rats to have increased appetite and decreased metabolic rate leading to obesity. In addition, I am interested in examining the effects of maternal food restriction on the developing central nervous system that impact the adult stress axis and mood related behaviors as well as the reproductive axis and related behaviors male and female rats.
